Second Draft

A Communication Designer as A Messenger

People usually get information about new goods and ideas through visual communication like advertisements. Most people also communicate through various media such as books, magazines, internet and TV in their daily lives. Everything is connected to visual communication and Design is no different. For example it is the Industrial designer who designs the products people daily use but it is the Communication designer who packs and advertises them.

However it is common to see the Communication designers advertising the product in a totally different way from which the Industrial designer initially designed. The reason it happens is because of their different point of view toward products. As a simple example the Designer will mostly concentrate on the efficient usage of the product while the Advertiser will concentrate on the looks.

A well designed product advertises itself but there exists great products with poor appearance which sometime are completely not noticeable. That is how important the role of a Communication designer is and why I changed my major to Communication design from Industrial design when I applied for Graduate school. I have majored Industrial design in undergraduate where I was able to learn of the 2-Demension, 3-Demension and open space design. The knowledge helps me understand and consider the designer side and I am hoping to be able to be a Communication designer who can express and advertise exactly what the Industrial designers initially thought and designed becoming a Messenger and the bridge that connects Designers to Customers.

As studying Communication Design, I am trying to concentrate on Typography which is the basic and major part of Communication design. Typography provides the exact information through words and letters which people see everyday. That is why it is very important for it to be readable and creative as well. I am hoping to learn more and more everyday so I can be a Communication designer working as a messenger.
